DeSpeed Introduction
DeSpeed is the world’s first decentralized network for internet speed validation, supported by real-time blockchain verification. Through a simple protocol connection, your device can measure internet speed, record the proof on the blockchain, and contribute to the global internet speed map.
To start earning rewards through the DeSpeed Bytes program, simply install the DeSpeed validator extension and register your account. After setup, the DeSpeed validator will automatically perform 4 internet speed tests at random intervals each day.
Every time you contribute speed test data, your unique IP address and location will be securely sent to the DeSpeed network to help build the global internet speed map. For each successful test, you can earn up to 800 bytes of network contribution rewards per day.
How Network Contribution Rewards Work
Network contribution rewards are based on three key factors:
-
The internet speed data from each test.
-
The uniqueness of your IP address.
-
Whether your device has location permissions enabled.
The byte calculation system works as follows:
-
Base Reward: Each internet speed test provides a base reward of 50 bytes.
-
Multiplier Boost: Additional reward multipliers are applied based on the uniqueness of your IP address and location status.
Explaining Unique IP Address and Location Status
-
Unique IP Address: A unique IP address serves as a distinct identifier for your device on the internet, enabling DeSpeed to more accurately track and analyze speed test contributions.
-
Location Status: Enabling location permissions allows the DeSpeed validator to access geographic data, providing more detailed and localized information about the source of the speed test.
Network Contribution Reward Scenarios
-
Case 1: Maximum Reward Boost (4x)
-
Location Enabled: Yes
-
Unique IP Address: Yes
If location permissions are enabled and your IP address is unique, you will receive the highest 4x reward. This means each successful speed test earns 200 bytes, which is the maximum network contribution reward level!
-
-
Case 2: 2x Reward Boost
-
Location Enabled: No & Unique IP Address: Yes
-
OR
-
Location Enabled: Yes & Unique IP Address: No
If your location is disabled and your IP is unique (or vice versa), you will still receive a 2x reward boost, earning 100 bytes per successful speed test. Although this is lower than the maximum reward, it is still higher than the base value.
-
-
Case 3: Base Reward (50 bytes)
-
Location Enabled: No
-
Unique IP Address: No
If your location is disabled and your IP address is not unique, you will only receive the base reward of 50 bytes per test, with no multiplier.
-
-
Case 4: Multiple Users Sharing an IP Address
-
Location Disabled: Yes
-
Multiple Users Sharing the Same IP Address: Yes
If multiple users contribute internet speed data from the same IP address, only the first user is eligible for the 2x reward boost for having a unique IP address. Subsequent users from the same IP will only receive the base reward of 50 bytes per test, with no multiplier.
-
Maximizing Your Network Contribution Rewards
To get the most out of DeSpeed Validator:
-
Enable Location Permissions: Allowing location access will maximize your reward multiplier.
-
Use a Unique IP Address: This ensures you receive the highest reward boost.
-
Keep the Validator Active: The more you contribute, the more you earn! Make sure to keep the DeSpeed Validator active and regularly perform tests to earn the maximum rewards.
