Grass Recent Updates
On April 2nd, Binance announced the start of the second round of nominations, with Grass included in the Alpha open list!
The event is set to last until April 10th. Unlike the previous round, this one includes candidates from various sectors such as AI, DeFi, infrastructure, and RWA. Due to Grass’s large community support, it has recently stood out as a “green spot among a sea of red” even in a downtrend.
On April 2nd, Grass announced that it had captured over 57,000,000 GB of public network data in Q1. Since the Sion upgrade, the capture volume has increased by 320 times.
Grass Overview
Grass is a data aggregation network built on the Solana blockchain, combining AI with a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN). It allows individuals to fully utilize unused internet bandwidth or share idle bandwidth, collecting information from the public network using this unused bandwidth. This data is then used to train large language models (LLMs) while establishing a transparent data marketplace that provides passive incentives for all participants.
Founded in 2023, Grass converts unstructured network data into structured datasets through its Grass nodes and sovereign data aggregation components. The network is powered by over 2 million users running nodes, processing more than 100TB of data daily, and boasts more than 2.5 million nodes across 190 countries, gathering substantial data for AI models.
Grass Architecture Components
The core technical architecture of the Grass network consists of several key components, including Grass nodes, sovereign data rollups, zero-knowledge proofs, and web request proof generation.

Grass Nodes: Grass nodes refer to user devices that have installed the Grass client and are a core component of the Grass network. Each node has a unique identifier and provides unused internet bandwidth through browser extensions, desktop applications, Android mobile apps, etc., to retrieve information from network servers and pass it on to routers.

Grass Team: What sets Grass apart is its emphasis on community, earning the respect of users through fair and transparent practices. Most team members remain anonymous, with the core team being Andrena, launched by Wynd Labs in June 2023. Only Andrej Radonjic, the co-founder of Wynd Network, has a publicly known identity.
Andrej Radonjic: As one of the co-founders of Grass, Andrej Radonjic holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics from York University and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from McMaster University. His goal is to provide individuals with the opportunity to gain incentives in AI development. In 2023, while operating his own residential agency service provider, he recognized the shortcomings of traditional service platforms.
Grass Fundraising: Since its inception, Grass has undergone two significant fundraising rounds, reaching a valuation close to one billion dollars:
-
July 2023: Grass announced the completion of a $1 million Pre-seed round, led by No Limit Holdings.
-
December 2023: Grass raised $3.5 million in a Seed round, led by Polychain and Tribe Capital.
-
September 2024: Grass Network completed a fundraising round (amount undisclosed), led by Hack VC, with participation from Polychain Capital, Delphi Digital, Lattice, and Brevan Howard Digital. This round raised Grass’s valuation to nearly one billion dollars.

Grass Summary:
Despite Grass’s significant achievements, this event is nearing its conclusion, reflecting the passion for the DePIN sector and marking a breakthrough for the Solana ecosystem in decentralized physical infrastructure. Grass aims to establish a fair, open, and decentralized data layer, in stark contrast to centralized AI data providers. With its innovative architecture and focus on Web3, Grass holds the potential to build a fair and open data layer for AI protocols and companies.
